2008

In our program 'Variety Meets the Classics' in May, the Eltham Orchestra performed the Symphony No. 100 'The Military' by Haydn, and a number of shorter works including the popular 'Pirates of the Caribbean'. The Beginner Strings and String Ensemble also provided variety with their various items including Vivaldi.



2007

In May the Eltham Orchestra performed the Zampa Overture by Herold, the Suite from the Ballet Pineapple Poll by Arthur Sullivan, and Symphony No. 103, the "Drumroll" by Haydn. The Beginner Strings played works by Haydn and Keith Sharp, and the Senior Strings played works by Andrew Lloyd Webber, Bach and Gliere.

In October the combined orchestras of Eltham and Surrey Hills performed at Warburton. This concert, and the November and December concerts, included the Light Cavalry overture by von Suppe, Peer Gynt Suite by Grieg, and Symphony No. 7 by Beethoven. The String Ensemble and the Eltham Beginner Strings also performed in December, and the Bach Brandenburg Concerto No. 4 was performed with soloists Jenny Brasch, Frederick Shade, and Libby Shade.

2006

In May we performed a Mozart Variety Concert including movements 1 & 2 of Piano Concerto No. 23 with soloist Sophie Antoniou.

In October we combined with the Surrey Hills Chamber Orchestra to provide a concert of popular and classical music at the Cowes Cultural Centre, Phillip Island. We provided a similar program at Montmorency in November. The Beginner String Group and the Senior String Group contributed with excellent brackets of music. The December performance was in North Balwyn.

The November and December concerts combined with the Surrey Hills Chamber Orchestra consisted of "The Barber of Seville" by Rossini, the Concerto for Flute and Orchestra in D Major by Mozart, with soloist Zillah Smith, 'Hungarian Dances 5 and 6' by Brahms, Selections from 'The King and I' by Rodgers and Hammerstein, the Radetzky March by J. Strauss Sr, and the major work, Beethoven's Symphony No. 6, "The Pastoral".

2005

In March we performed selections from Rodgers and Hammerstein musicals at a Cabaret Concert at Montmorency. In April we participated in the Williamstown Maritime Festival with a group of water-based musical selections. In May, the Senior String group introduced themselves at the Monash Music Festival, and later in May, all three groups presented a concert at Greensborough which included Mozart's Impresario Overture and two movements from Schumann's Symphony no. 2.

On August 28th we celebrated the 30th Anniversary of the orchestra with a happy concert at the Eltham Community Centre, in conjunction with Surrey Hills Chamber Orchestra and the Diamond Valley Singers. This included music by Gluck, Beethoven, Copeland, Rodgers & Hammerstein, and Gilbert & Sullivan.

In November we performed in combination with Surrey Hills Chamber Orchestra the William Tell overture by Rossini, Symphony No. 9 (The Great) by Schubert and a selection of popular numbers.
