Our conductor

Born in Graz, Austria, Marie-Louise Wright
(Mary) began violin studies with Brian Fish and later
with Zefferino Mendes, Tim Wachtel and Warwick Stengards.
She studied conducting and Musical Direction with Dr.
Peter Clinch, Robert Rosen, Marvin Rabin, Jerry Nowak,
Dr. Robert Culver and Dr. LeRoy Jones as well as
attending Symphony Australia workshops in Tasmania and
Adelaide, and most recently a workshop with the Royal
Australian Navy Band.
She is currently the conductor of:
- Surrey Hills Chamber Orchestra and Feeder String
Programme
- Preston Junior Strings
- Eltham Orchestra and two other ensembles in the Eltham
Orchestras group.

- Conductor of past productions of Gilbert & Sullivan
Operettas, Lehar's Merry Widow, German's Merrie England,
Lerner & Lowes' Brigadoon, Rogers & Hammerstein's
Oklahoma as well as Calamity Jane and most recently
Fiddler on the Roof.
Marie-Louse has been privileged to conduct, at this
stage, 6 out of the 9 Beethoven Symphonies, as well as
Mozart, Haydn and Schubert, to name but a few composers.
She also performs as a violinist and arranges music for
the Victorian Concert Orchestra.
Her favourite music is Beethoven's Symphony No. 6, and
classical ballet music of the Romantic era. Her ambition
is to conduct for performances of large-scale ballet.
